Alan Taylor
Director of Brewing Operations/Braumeister
Ascendant Beer Company is proud to have Oregon Native Alan Taylor at the helm! Alan was named one of the nation’s best “unsung brewers” by All About Beer magazine in 2015, and we couldn’t agree more. He caught the brewing bug while he was a student at Linfield College, and it followed him to Germany, where he was studying linguistics. Fortunately for us, he switched tracks and instead went to brewing school at the prestigious VLB Berlin. When he returned, he worked for a number of larger breweries, including Full Sail and Widmer Brothers. In 2013 he was brought on as head brewer at PINTS Brewing Company. In 2018 PINTS underwent the transformation into Ascendant Beer Company.
In addition to this transition he also oversees the operations of our sister breweries, Zoiglhaus Brewing Company in Portland, OR and Ponderosa Brewing Co in Albuquerque, NW. Taylor’s breadth of experience and guidance is reflected in the dynamic beers featured across all three brewing platforms, from the authentic German styles of Zoiglhaus all the way to the thoughtful and intriguing small batch beers you’ll come to know and love from Ascendant Beer Company.
Noah Palmer
Head Brewer
Noah was an avid homebrewer for several years before completing his brewing education at Central Washington University. After school he worked for Long Brewing in Newberg, getting paid in hops and malt so he could continue his homebrewing adventures. His first job that paid real money was at Rogue and after that he was hired at Laurelwood as a Cellarman and eventually working his way up to Head Brewer.
Noah joined the team in 2018 as Head Brewer for Zoiglhaus Brewing Company and Ascendant Beer Company (formerly PINTS Brewing Co.) He works alongside a team led by German-trained Brewmaster, Alan Taylor. His passion and knowledge are indispensable to both the traditional and authentic German-style beers brewed at Zoiglhaus and the thoughtful, creative beers brewed on the 3.5bbl “toy” system at Ascendant.
